David McDonnell is a Hertfordshire based guitarist, teacher and session musician who graduated from the London College of Music in 2011 with a BMus(hons) in Music Performance.

David started teaching ten years ago whilst studying at university and currently works for Hertfordshire Music Service in addition to running his own successful private teaching business. He has full public liability insurance, a current DBS check, is trained in safeguarding children and is a full member of the Musician's Union.

​In addition to teaching, David is also an active performing musician and has gigged at venues all over the UK and Europe. He has extensive professional experience working in a range of varying musical settings such as; studio recording sessions, rock and pop gigs, live TV recordings (Channel 4), live radio recordings (BBC), function bands, jazz ensembles and theatre pit bands (Made in Dagenham, Sister Act, Our House).

David has performed with notable artists such as Kid Creole, Loop and Delaire, and his past student successes include Declan McKenna who signed to Columbia Records in 2015. He currently spends the majority of his time playing in one of the UK’s leading wedding and function bands, 'The London Function Band’.
